I asked about what we could include in our portfolios, and this is the answer I got.... cut directly from email and pasted here...
"ALL of the exercises we do (in class and out of class) are intended to generate the beginnings of stories, poems, and creative essays. You all should allow work for the portfolio to grow out of our exercises as well as from ideas that you have outside of class. Again, these can be fiction, poetry, and/or non-fiction."

Hi Humbleprof! thanks for the clarification concerning our portfolios. That sure helps me. But I have a question about our critiques for this Wed. of three people's poems. I think they are due this Wed, am I right? If so, when we will get them so we can critique them? Please reply and let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.
